Job Details
As a Permanent Chief Engineer, you will play a crucial role in managing and leading our Marine Engineering team on the vessel.
You will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and inspection of all engineering equipment on board.
This role is also responsible for surveying, troubleshooting, and correcting system failures, ensuring the vessel&s;s engineering compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the Marine Engineering team on the vessel, ensuring smooth operations and maintenance of all onboard engineering equipment.
2. Ensure the engine room is clean, organized, and suitable for inspection by coastguard authorities, ABS, and other higher authorities.
3. Perform daily vessel plant operation, preventative maintenance, watch-standing and record-keeping, fuel transfer, and bilge/ballast operations.
4. Responsible for surveying, troubleshooting, and correction of system failures.
5. Ensure vessel engineering compliance with regulatory requirements such as USCG, ABS, EPA, port/municipality/foreign rules.
6. Provide technical leadership to the team, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
7. Implement and adhere to SMS &a; HSSEQ maritime practices.
Qualifications:
1. Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the Engineering industry.
Required to hold a license issued by U.S. Coast Guard
2. Merchant Marine Credential (MMC) credentials are mandatory.
3. Must possess Chief Engineer - Limited (Motors) or DDE Unlimited (motors) credentials.
4. Must have Officer-in-Charge of an Engineering Watch (OICEW) qualifications.
5. Knowledge of SMS &a; HSSEQ maritime practices is required.
6. Proven experience in technical leadership, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
7. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
8. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements such as USCG, ABS, EPA, port/municipality/foreign rules.
9. Ability to work in diverse and multicultural environments.
10. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
